ICMS Certification is a career-long commitment that demonstrates to your peers, your employees and your organization that you have mastered core principles and practices and dedicated to staying current in your field.
Passing the exam is only one part of the certification process. Because the exams are experience-based, applicants must have the required work experience to be eligible to enroll. Students are supposed to complete all theory and practical assessments for each unit of module shown below.
CERTPRO, CERTCOM, AND CERTMAS BODY OF KNOWLEDGE
The Certificates of Proficiency, Competency and Mastery in Mineral Processing & Gold Extraction, Occupational Health and Safety, Mineral and Exploration Drilling, Leadership & Supervision, Communication & Marketing training and assessments are created using the CERTPRO, CERTCOM and CERTMAS Body of Knowledge, which outlines the skills and right knowledge needed by the employee and the industry .
The CERTPRO, CERTCOM and CERTMAS Body of Knowledge are created by subject matter experts through a rigorous practice analysis study and validated by professionals working in the field and academia through an extensive survey instrument. It is updated periodically to ensure it is consistent with current practices in the mining and extractive industry.
Participants are supposed to complete all theory and practical assessments for each unit of module shown in the graph above. Breakdown of theory training and assessments are as follows:
1. Theory Training and PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT: Participants are taken through a 2hr daily x 1month classroom-based or theory training after which they are assessed for proficiency. Pass mark for declaration as Proficient is 80-90%. Proficiency assessment comprises only Knowledge Assessment.
2. Theory Training and COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT: Participants are taken through a 2hr daily x 2months classroom-based or theory training after which they are assessed for COMPETENCY. Pass mark for declaration as Competent is 91-95%. Competency assessment comprises Knowledge Assessment + Practical Assessment.
3. Theory Training and MASTERY ASSESSMENT: Participants are taken through a 2hr daily x 3months classroom-based or theory training after which they are assessed for MASTERY. Pass mark for declaration as MASTER is 96-100%. Mastery Assessment comprises Knowledge Assessment + Practical Assessment + Assignments.
